Hospital Ground Shooting Leaves One Man Dead

A 44-year-old St. Thomas man was killed Saturday afternoon in a shooting in the Hospital Ground area.

Next of kin identified the victim as male as 44-year-old Jerome Turnbull.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the 911 center received a call reporting shots fired at 5:17 p.m. Saturday. Units from the Richard N. Callwood Command along with units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to the scene at Hospital Ground and discovered an unresponsive black male lying on the side of the road.

The man appeared to have sustained multiple gunshots wounds to the body.

Emergency Medical Technicians were on scene and determined that the male did not have any vital signs.

This case is under investigation by the Major Crime Unit. Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the unit at 340-774-2211, or call the 911 center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at1-800-222-8477. Calls to Crimestoppers can result in the payment of cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest.
