VIPD Identifies Burned Body of Williams Delight Victim

DNA testing of a body found burned beyond recognition int he Williams Delight area confirmed the victim’s identity as 21-year-old Naji Jarvis, the V.I. Police Department confirmed Saturday.

Jarvis’s next of kin has been notified, the police said.

According to a statement issued by the VIPD Saturday, the 911 center received a report at 11:03 p.m. Aug. 27 reporting a vehicle fire on First Street in Williams Delight. Fire Department personnel and VIPD units responded.

Upon arrival fire personnel extinguished the fire and discovered a burned body in a compact vehicle.

Police took samples for DNA testing, and Friday learned that the victim had been identified.

The case has been classified as a homicide. The Criminal Investigation Bureau is asking anyone with information about the case or any other to the CIB TIP-LINE at 469-475-3871, the police at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tp service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-2228466. Tips to Crime Stoppers that result in arrests can make the tipster eligible for a cash reward.
