The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) advises customers that bills being issued in October will represent a 60-day service period.
“This is the final multi-month bill that the Authority will issue as it normalizes its post-storm billing cycles,” said Chief Financial Officer Debra E. Gottlieb. “Beginning in November, WAPA anticipates returning to a normal billing cycle, issuing a bill approximately every 30 days for a 30-day service period.”
WAPA has spent the last several months restoring all facets of its billing systems: manual meter reading; restoration of automated metering systems, which is today at approximately 85 percent functionality; customer payment plans; and billing adjustments as required.
“This 60-day bill in October will allow the Authority to become current on its billing and be in a position to issue a 30-day bill in November, representing the customer’s usage during the month of October,” Gottlieb said.
Gottlieb advised that customers who need a payment plan to address the 60-day bill should visit the customer service office and make such arrangements.
“I would like to caution, however, that while we are affording customers a short-term payment plan on a case by case basis, all customers must be current with their payments to WAPA.”
She said just as WAPA is normalizing its billing operations, customers must begin to finalize their payment plans and ensure all payments due and owing to WAPA are made by the due dates.
