VIPD Arrest Woman on Florida Warrant

The V.I. Police Department on Saturday arrested a woman wanted on a warrant issued in Orlando, Florida, charging her with false imprisonment and interference with custody, police reported.

A one-month-old infant girl was taken into protective custody.

At 11 a.m. Saturday the Domestic Violence unit was notified by a U.S Marshall that he had one adult female in his custody pursuant to a Florida arrest warrant. The marshal also indicated he had a one-month old infant girl in protective custody as well. The infant girl was taken into protective custody by a social worker from Human Services.

At 11:45 a.m. Saturday 66-year-old Barbara Francis was present at the Criminal Investigation Bureau in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, and was placed under arrest as per the warrant, which charges false imprisonment and interference with custody.

She was booked, processed, and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advice of rights hearing.. No bail was set as per the warrant.

Francis awaits extradition to Orlando.
