The V.I. Police Department 1:15 a.m. Saturday responded to a call from Bernard Wesselhoft, owner of Slim Man Parking Lot on St. John, at his Enighed residence, where he reported having been assaulted.
Wesselhoft told officers he had parked his car across the street from his residence when an individual dressed in all black approached him from behind and stuck what he believed to be a gun at his head.
Wesselhoft said the suspect instructed him not to look back.
The perpetrator forced Wesselhoft by gunpoint to the front door of his residence and ordered him to open the door. During this exchange, Wesselhoft said he was able push the individual away and enter the residence, locking the door with his assailant on the outside. Soon after, Wesselhoft told officers, two gunshots were fired. Officers found a spent casing along with one round of ammunition.
Officers secured the scene and notified the VIPD’s Forensic Unit for further processing of the scene.
While no one was injured officers continued to canvass the area in search of the suspect and any potential weapons. This matter is currently under active investigation.
