The anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, seeks the public’s help to resolve two homicide cold cases.
St. Croix: At 8:50 a.m. Oct. 3, 2014, police were dispatched to an Estate Grove Place home regarding an overnight shooting that claimed the life of 33-year-old Shukura St. Louis. When police arrived at the victim’s home, which she shared with her mother, the mother told officers that she heard a gunshot sometime after midnight, but had not given it much thought. She awoke that morning to find her daughter unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her body.
St. Louis was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives with the Cold Case Unit St. Croix, urge the public to come forward with any information that could assist them solve this case.
St. Thomas: At about 4:45 p.m. Sept. 14, 2017, units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to the rear of Giant Gas Station located in Estate Thomas in response to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, units observed a black man, later identified as Elroy Riera, lying on his back and gasping for air. Riera had what appeared to be blood on his clothing from multiple gunshot wounds about his body. He was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
