International Men’s Day Summit Planned for Nov. 19

International Men’s Day is November 19

International Men’s Day Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, at University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall. Topics will include:
1) Positive Male Models
2) Changing Roles of Men
3) Health Matters (Mind, Body and Spirit)
The speakers will be Terrence D. Joseph, Dr. Valdemar Hill and Dr. Cleopatra Peter.

There will be a Round Table Discussion on “Today’s Man / Tomorrow’s Future” with representatives from the Department of Health, Department of Human Services, the Attorney General’s Office, Department of Education, VI Police Department, Senate, Youth Organizations, Men’s Coalition, PTA groups and business owners. Lunch will be provided.

9:50-10 a.m. Video on a Men’s International Day
10-10:30 a.m. First Speaker – Topic: Positive Male Models
10:30-11 a.m. Second Speaker – Topic: The Changing Roles of Men
11-11:30 a.m. Third Speaker – Topic: Men’s Health (The Mind, Body and Spirit Approach)
11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. LUNCH
1:15-1:45 p.m. Panel Discussion on ‘Today’s Men/Tomorrow’s Future
There will be nine panelists. They will (a) introduce themselves – 2 minutes each (b) Make statements about the topic – 3 minutes each and (c) Participate in the Q&A session that follows.
1:45-2:15 p.m. The conference organizers will make a summary of points raised during the panel discussion with the purpose of making a draft plan for the future. This may lead to a vote on the points raised and maybe even an endorsement of the day from the Senate.
2:15-2:35 p.m. Evaluation of the Summit
2:35-2:45 p.m. Wrap-up by the Conference Organizers
3 p.m. Conference Ends
