Shots Fired, Woman Injured in David Hamilton Jackson Terrace

A woman was injured when shots were fired, apparently from a passing vehicle, Friday evening at the David Hamilton Jackson Terrace housing community on St. Croix.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at about 9:21 p.m. Nov. 27, the 911 emergency call center received reports of shots fired and a possible victim, and dispatched officers to the housing community.

At the scene officers traveled to the area and found community residents assisting an adult female who was apparently injured by a gunshot. The woman, whose name was not released by police in accordance with department policy, was transported to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle, described as a black Acura, leave the area after the shots were fired. Officers and crime scene investigators examined the scene and collected evidence.

Police Chief Sidney Elskoe asked that anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the department by calling 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950 or to the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
