The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs notifies the public of the latest rack rate prices issued by Gulf Oil at Lime Tree Bay Terminal effective Feb. 15 to Feb. 21. Rack rate prices have increased. The new rack prices with the .14/gallon tax are $2.2600 for regular, $2.3300 for premium and diesel is at $2.2400. Additionally, a DLCA territorywide fuel price survey was conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 16, on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. Fuel surveys are included for comparative viewing and transparency.

Fuel surveys are designed to inform consumers of the most affordable fuel prices throughout the territory. Although the fuel prices have increased by at least $0.50 at selected service stations, there are still fuel stations with prices under $3.00 per gallon as of the time and date of the instant press release.

“DLCA is aware of and hears the community’s outcry regarding the overnight exorbitant increase in fuel prices,” said Commissioner Richard Evangelista.

“DLCA is currently investigating the immediate price increase and will inform the community about its findings when the investigation is complete and refer the matter to the Department of Justice if necessary. In the interim, I encourage consumers to utilize the information contained in the fuel survey to make wise financial decisions. A penny saved is a penny earned a/k/a one/one fill basket,” the commissioner said.

On St. Croix, the lowest prices for self-service regular and self-service premium under $3.00 per gallon were found at Five Corners Service Station, Freedom City Service Station, One Love Service Stations-Golden Rock, LaGrande Princesse and Hannah’s Rest, PUMA Golden Rock and Sunny Isle, Right Way Service Station and Ziggy’s Market Service Station. The lowest price for diesel was $2.499 per gallon at Freedom City Service Station.
