During these turbulent times of pandemic, climate change, economic conservatism and other crises in today’s challenging world, the Virgin Islands Board of Education (VIBE) is acutely aware of one common factor: educational knowledge that guides learning opportunities and hands-on experiences to make solutions and notable results possible. As such, the VIBE proudly supports public education for years to come, especially during American Education Week from Nov. 15-19, 2021.

In the early 1920s, the charge to support education was taken up by the American Legion and the National Education Association (NEA). The association subsequently voted to dedicate one week annually to raise public awareness of the importance of education. This national effort presents an opportunity for us to recognize all persons working within our public school system for their valuable contributions and to ensure that every student receives a quality and sound education. Many of them are going above and beyond to help our schools during this pandemic. Outstanding!

“A heartfelt thank you to all our educational partners and stakeholders including our bus drivers, teachers, administrative and support staff, cafeteria workers, custodians and maintenance personnel for your genuine and committed service,” said Kyza A. Callwood, chairman of the 20th Board of Education.

The VIBE also thanks the community for its support of public schools and encourages past and current students, parents and guardians, and the public to be a part of the change you believe in and want to see in public education.
