Arrest in 2019 Shooting of Four

VIPD arrested a St. Croix man Tuesday for the shooting of four men 30 months ago.

Mario Magras, now 29, allegedly sprayed some 50 bullets at men sitting on a bench outside the David Hamilton Jackson Terrace Housing Community around 9 P.M. on Sept. 6, 2019. Four men were hit by the high-power-rifle rounds and taken to hospital with serious injuries. One was preeminently paralyzed from the wounds, according to police spokesperson Glen Dratte.

Investigators were able to get a warrant for Magras’ arrest Jan. 26 from Judge Darryl Donahue. Just after 6 A.M. Tuesday, officers from VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operation Bureau arrested Magras at his Estate Diamond home, Dratte said.

Police said Magras declined to make a statement upon his arrest. Unable to post $100,000 bail, he was remanded to Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility before an advice of rights hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

It was not clear why the investigation took as long as it did. 2019 St. Croix Police Chief William Harvey said his force was working “24/7 to preserve the safety in this community.”
