DOH Advises Public on Recall of Several Types of SKIPPY® Peanut Butter

Due to the possibility of SKIPPY® Peanut Butter containing fragments of stainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment, the Department of Health (VIDOH) announces that Skippy Foods, LLC voluntarily recalled jars of several types of SKIPPY® Peanut Butter. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The voluntary recall occurred nationwide on Friday, April 2nd, and involves 9.353 cases of 161,692 pounds of the product. The specific products impacted by the recall include SKIPPY® Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, SKIPPY® Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread, and SKIPPY® Creamy Peanut Butter Blended with Plant Protein.

The VIDOH advises the public that only one of the recalled products is WIC approved, and the VI WIC program participants do not widely use that product. However, as a precaution, the VIDOH is proactively advising the public.

It is recommended that consumers make sure they do not have any of the recalled products by referring to the lot numbers listed below and checking the code date, “Best If Used By,” located on top of the lid.

VI Consumers who have this product should return it to their retailer for an exchange. Consumers may also call Skippy Foods Consumer Engagement at 1-866-475-4779 or visit the website at www.peanutbutter.com for instructions and information. The Consumer Engagement team is available Monday – Friday, 8 am to 4 pm Central Time.

The VIDOH advised the public that thus far, there have been no consumer complaints.
