Man Arrested in Sledgehammer Assault

Officers arrested and charged a man on Friday after an investigation revealed he hit and injured a man on the head with a sledgehammer, the V.I. Police Department said in a news release.

Kenneth C. Wigfall Jr., 38, was charged with assault, mayhem, reckless endangerment, and disturbance of the peace for the alleged attack on May 19 in the area of Anna’s Retreat on St. Thomas, police said. His bail was set at $75,000 by the Magistrate Court of the Virgin Islands, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, they said.
