Man Shot and Killed in Williams Delight

On Wednesday, 911 received a call of shots fired and a man down in Williams Delight on St. Croix. The critically injured victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, and once at the hospital he died of his injuries, the V.I. Police Department reported Wednesday night.

The victim was shot in the publicly funded apartments area of Williams Delight that is referred to as “the turf,” police said. The report did not indicate what time the shooting occurred.

He was identified by his next of kin as 28-year-old Jah-Marley Christopher Alfred of Williams Delight.

“We are currently investigating this homicide and continue to ask our community for information on all ongoing investigations,” Criminal Investigation Bureau Chief Commander Lt. Naomi Joseph said.

Alfred’s death is the 11th homicide of the year on St. Croix, and the 17th for the territory, according to the Source Homicide List.* St. Thomas recorded its sixth death on Sunday, when Janyi Barry, 17, died of his injuries from a shooting in Sugar Estate on June 30.

Anyone with information on this shooting or any other should call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6092, its tip-line at 340-778-4950, 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

*The Source Homicide List is a chronological log of the homicides recorded in 2022 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as reported by the VIPD. Cases are broken down by island. While this listing is based on VIPD reports, the Source does not include suicides or vehicular homicides in its listing that the police and some other media do. This can lead to a discrepancy in the number of incidents reported.
