PFLAG Chapter ‘Comes Out’ on St. Thomas

After two years of planning, a PFLAG Chapter has recently been established in the USVI. PFLAG St. Thomas, an LGBTQIA+ advocacy group, will now offer a place for V.I. friends and families of LGBTQIA+ people to support, educate and advocate.

PFLAG St. Thomas, an affiliate of PFLAG, Inc., is designed to serve the St. Thomas–St. John district. A special inaugural event for the new chapter will be held on June 3. The social event will take place at Yacht Haven Grande’s 13 Restaurant from 1-4 p.m. The event is hosted in part with AARP in The Virgin Islands.

The first PFLAG was founded in 1973 and is a chapter-based organization currently set up in more than 400 communities across the United States. Its governance structure is membership-based and is comprised of chapter members and members at large.

PFLAG St. Thomas will continue the work of the organization by providing support groups for parents, LBGTQIA+ adults, and youth and supportive community events in the St. Thomas and St. John district.
