The Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) will conduct two symposiums throughout the territory to share information on careers for military officers.
Adjutant General for the Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) Brigadier General (VI) Deborah Y. Howell will host a retirement ceremony for her State Command Sgt. Maj. Delores English-Edwards after 40 years of military service. The event will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13.
Virgin Islanders will learn about career opportunities in the United States Naval Academy (USNA) during Thanksgiving week across the territory. A former public school success, Midshipman Kobe A. Sutton, will share his military academy experience at forums and informal meetings with students, parents and educators.
In celebration of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Week, which is Aug. 21-27, the Virgin Islands ESGR Committee has scheduled two ceremonies at the both airports to recognize, celebrate and thank all service members and veterans who live in or enter the territory.

Local, federal and military officials along with private sector representatives will convene for two days to begin the year-long planning effort for Vigilant Guard, a national-level, full-scale emergency response exercise scheduled for May 2017. The exercise will test the territorial government’s ability to respond to a catastrophic event.
