Dollar fo’ Dollar invites the public to the 14th annual Hurricane Recovery Edition of the Dollar fo’ Dollar Culture & History Tour: A Remembrance of the Coal Workers Strikes of 1892 and 1916. The free interactive tour will proceed by shuttle to Market Square; it will then journey to the waterfront by foot to various sites important to the coaling industry; and it will end at Fort Christian. Transportation will be available to take participants back to WICO in Havensight Mall, according to a press release from Dollar fo’ Dollar.
The event is held in celebration of the hundreds of 19th and 20th century coal laborers and Queen Coziah who led a successful protest in the streets of Charlotte Amalie for better wages.
