The committee has scheduled a meeting to receive testimony from the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, and members of the farming and fishing industries and to consider Bill No. 34-0047.

Bill No. 34-0047 – An Act requiring the Department of Agriculture and the University of the Virgin Islands to create a plan to develop a seed banking program to store and preserve seeds for preservation against climate change, natural disasters and for other situations that could

lead to total annihilation of crops, plants and other fauna and flora (Sponsored by Senator Samuel Carriόn)

Block II

1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The committee will receive testimony – not limited to updates on the overall administration and operations of the farming and fishing industries – to include any updates from respective departments regarding outstanding hurricane and COVID relief funding. Additionally, the committee will discuss ongoing efforts to improve both our local farming and fishing industries.
