Around St. John, you may start seeing a lot of T-shirts with an image of a purple octopus waving its tentacles, the design that graces the prized shirts given to the 340 swimmers, the 120 volunteers, and staff of this year’s Beach-to-Beach Power Swim.
Jeff Miller has done what no one has done before. The 55-year-old fisheries biologist with the Virgin Islands National Park has swum non-stop around St. John, a distance of almost 23 miles in 12.5 hours.
The Police Department is investigating the Friday death of Lisa de Kooning, the daughter of the late abstract expressionist artist,Willem de Kooning. Lisa de Kooning died at the home she owned on St. John.
The Virgin Island’s Cross-Country Season on St. Croix will start on Wednesday, Oct. 27. VI Paving and the Department of Agriculture assisted the VITFF with the creation of a new cross-country course in Negro Bay where the races will be held.
