Ticket to Work Program Renews In-person Services for People With Disabilities

V.I. Department of Labor Commissioner Gary Molloy and Mayor of Caguas, Puerto Rico, William Miranda Torres (center) joined VIDOL and AMSI staff during the Ticket to Work agreement renewal meeting on St. Thomas, V.I.

The Ticket to Work (TTW) program — a national program that provides job services for beneficiaries of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) – has renewed its on-site services for residents of the Virgin Islands.

The jobs services are provided by AMSI, an employment network and nonprofit organization based in Puerto Rico that signed renewal agreements in July of 2024 with the American Job Centers managed by the Virgin Islands Department of Labor on St. Thomas and St. Croix, as well as the Virgin Island Association for Independent Living.

Orientations will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Virgin Islands Department of Labor on St. Thomas. Moreover, on-site services will be held from 1-4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Virgin Islands Department of Labor on St. Croix. Residents who receive disability benefits and are interested can register by sending an email to gmelendez@amsipr.com or calling 203-2676.

Through the Ticket to Work Program, employment networks help people who receive SSDI benefits prepare for and find or maintain employment. Everyone who receives SSDI because of a disability may participate in this free and voluntary program. AMSI has provided employment network services since 2006 and has helped more than 500 individuals with disabilities find and keep jobs in both Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.
