Ingrid Warrington

Ingrid Warrington passed away on Sept. 5 in Philadelphia after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

Born in 1960 to Gilbertha and James Warrington on the island of Dominica, Ingrid enjoyed her early years as part of a large and loving family. In 1970, she moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and was adopted by Ruth Moolenaar, who raised her with undying love and devotion.

Ingrid married Oriel Hewlett in 1994, and they welcomed their son, Joshua, on March 3, 1997. Her life was further blessed with the birth of her daughter, Kyrah, on Aug. 2, 2003. Ingrid’s children were the center of her world, and she was deeply devoted to their happiness and well-being.

Ingrid was known for her infectious laugh, beautiful smile and warm, welcoming personality. She loved hosting friends and family, and found joy in cooking, particularly her legendary oxtail, rice and peas, and fried plantains. Her life was a testament to love, resilience and grace. She was a woman of faith and quiet strength, a dedicated mother, a beloved sister, and a friend to many and will be dearly missed. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her children and in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

Ingrid was predeceased by her mother, Gilbertha Warrington; her adoptive mother, Ruth Moolenaar; her father, James Warrington; and her brothers: Forbes Warrington and Strathmore Warrington.
