Firearm Discovery in Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Two on St. Croix

Two individuals were arrested after police recovered a loaded firearm during a traffic stop near Sunny Isles Shopping Center on Monday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At approximately 10:35 a.m., officers observed a black BMW without license plates in the area. A subsequent traffic stop near the former Smoked Restaurant uncovered the weapon inside the vehicle, according to the police report.

The occupants, identified as 19-year-old Luis Noel and 18-year-old Donnie Heywood, were taken into custody and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession or sale of ammunition. Both suspects were booked and held on $50,000 bail, which they were unable to post, the police report stated.

Noel and Heywood were transported to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility, where they remain pending their advice of rights hearing, the report stated.
