United Airlines is the latest in the list of major airlines that have interline agreements with Seaborne Airlines, Seaborne said in a recent press release. Customers can buy one ticket for United and Seaborne Airlines flights, with a connection from Virgin Islands airports in San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin Airport. They can check their luggage through to their final destination at Virgin Islands airports.
Seaborne has similar partnerships with American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Jet Blue.
In addition to this upgrade in service and travel options, Seaborne Airlines has also taken further steps to improve the customer experience by investing in major improvements at the seaplane facilities on both St. Croix and St. Thomas.
Quality Subs, a locally owned restaurant, has expanded to the seaplane base on St. Croix. Improvements on St. Croix include new passenger waiting tents, comfortable and durable benches in the departure areas and a new seaplane trailer for the maintenance department. Infrastructure improvements on St. Thomas include a new dock.
“Seaborne Airlines will carry over 200,000 customers into, out of and between the U.S. Virgin Islands this year,” said Gary Foss, president and chief executive officer of Sea Star, the holding company for Seaborne Airlines Virgin Islands Inc., in the press release. “We are honored to play such an important role in transporting people and packages for business or to see family and friends.”
Foss was traveling and could not be reached for further comment.
Seaborne Airlines has been operating in the Caribbean for over 21 years, carrying over 2.5 million customers. With over 2,200 monthly departures to 15 airports, Seaborne serves San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, Cyril E. King Airport and seaplane bases on St. Thomas, Juan F. Luis Airport and seaplane bases on St. Croix as well as the islands of Tortola, Dominica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Maarten, La Romana, Santo Domingo and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
All flights operate with two pilots and twin engines.
