Abdel Mohammed Mustafa, 22, was arrested about 12:45 p.m. Thursday on St. John in connection with a Nov. 28, 2011 stabbing at Bay Side Minimart in Cruz Bay. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Police said Mustafa stabbed a male victim several times with a knife. According to a Friday press release from the Police Department, witnesses said the suspect attacked a male customer by stabbing him several times in this right arm and lower back. The victim was treated at the Myrah Keating Community Clinic and then transported to the Roy L. Schneider Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Mustafa was placed on a $25,000 bail and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
Police Department spokesman Melody Rames said she did not have information on where Mustafa lived and worked.
Mustafa was also arrested on July 14, 2011 when he attempted to flee the jurisdiction by boarding a flight to San Juan following a shooting at a St. Thomas grocery store. Police said at that time, Mustafa got into an argument with a customer at that store and later discharged shots at the vehicle the victim was driving in.
