The V.I. Water and Power Authority restored full power to the St. Thomas-St. John district at 8:20 p.m. Monday, the utility reported.
The two islands had been on a rotating power interruption Friday and Saturday nights and most of Monday after units tripped offline.
After completing repairs to its transformer components, personnel at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas successfully brought Unit 23, the district’s largest generating unit, back on line at 7:57 p.m. Monday.
The return of the island’s largest unit gave WAPA the generation capacity needed to meet the demand for electric service in the district and ended the schedule of rotating service interruptions.
Service was fully restored to the district at 8:20 p.m., according to WAPA’s news release.
