Shooting on St. Croix Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

One man was killed and three injured in a shooting Thursday evening in Estate Catherine’s Rest on St. Croix.

According to the Source homicide listing*, it was the 14th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 25th in the territory.

The fatality victim was identified by family members as 23-year-old Akido Parrilla. According to police he received a gunshot wound to the head and succumbed to his injuries at 10:44 p.m. Thursday.

Police said that at 7:42 p.m. the 911 operator received calls of shots being fired in Estate Catherine’s Rest, Christiansted. Callers told 911 that one man had been shot and was on the ground.

Shortly after police received calls from the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital that three people had walked into the emergency room with gunshot wounds to various part of the body.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating the crime. Police urged anyone with information on the shooting to call the the CIB tip line at 469-475-3871, the VIPD at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
