The St. George Village Botanical Gardens are bringing Santa Claus to the garden for their first “Breakfast with Santa” event at 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
Last year, the gardens’ annual “Christmas Spoken Here” raised $27,000 in donations, but due to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic, the setup had to be changed. The St. George Village Botanical Gardens director, Amy Parker DeSorbo, expressed her excitement for Saturday’s event.
“This is one of my favorite weekends. I love having children in the garden and during Christmas time we are all children at heart,” DeSorbo said. “It brings out the best in everybody. We have not been able to get together so we’re going to be safe while we celebrate the holidays, so I am really excited about that.”
The event will be catered by the Blue Water Terrace, which will be serving a stuffed French toast with maple syrup, garden veggie frittata, fresh fruit bowls, and more delicacies.
“The chef is shipping blueberries from Vermont,” DeSorbo said.
Also, during the event, an auction of Christmas trees will take place. Anyone not attending the event but interested in participating in the auction can log in to view the event and bid for a Christmas Tree. During the event participants also can become a member of the St. George Village Botanical Gardens. Anyone who signs up will receive a Christmas gift.
