St. Croix Man Arrested for Cyber-Stalking and Cyber-Harassment

A St. Croix man turned himself into authorities for the cyber-stalking and cyber-harassment of a woman, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

On Feb. 6, the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into a cyber-stalking and cyber-harassment complaint. The investigation revealed that Raheem Wyre maliciously harassed the victim by consistently contacting her place of employment at Silver Airways, even after a Civil Protection Order was filed against him with the Superior Court. Wyre continued to threaten the victim’s life verbally and through multiple fake social media pages, according to the police report.

As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for Raheem Wyre on June 2 and an All Points Bulletin was placed on Raheem Wyre after several attempts were made to locate him, with negative results, the police report stated.

On June 25, 30-year-old Wyre surrendered himself at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was arrested and advised of his Miranda Rights, which he refused to sign and invoked his Fifth Amendment Rights. Wyre was subsequently booked and charged with harassment by telephone, telegraph or written communication, cyber-stalking and cyber-harassment, and contempt of court, the report stated.

Unable to post bail in the amount of $1,000, Wyre was remanded to John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of right’s hearing, police said.
