Dear Source,
As the chairperson for the V.I. chapter of the American Red Cross,
I have the opportunity to witness the strength of the human spirit each day. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of a New Year, the American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands would like to say "thank you" to everyone whose contribution of time, resources and money has helped us help others this past year.
I see it in the actions of the numerous volunteers who work alongside American Red Cross employees when we need their help the most. I see it in the faces of employees who put in countless hours when a disaster strikes. I see it in the face of victims of disaster when a Red Cross worker lends them a helping hand. I see it in the dedication of health and safety instructors teaching infant CPR to new parents. I hear it in the voices of concerned donors who call to give the gift of money.
This year the V.I. chapter has assisted numerous individuals who were personally affected by the November rains and several single-family house fires. We have also taught life-saving skills such as CPR, first aid, lifeguarding and HIV/AIDS prevention. This would not have been possible without the contributions of hundreds of Virgin Islanders who've helped our local chapter make a difference in our community. It is your continuous commitment to providing warmth and support to members of our community for which we at the Virgin Islands chapter of the American Red Cross are so thankful.
Have a safe and happy New Year, and know that you have truly made a positive difference this year.
Priscilla L. Hintz
