Sept. 21, 2003 — An exciting evening of music and words is in store as the four Rotary Clubs of St. Croix present "Quelbe: Past and Present" Saturday, Sept. 27, at Fort Frederik.
The Jumbie Productions show, a benefit for Relay for Life, begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
'Quelbe: Past and Present' will explore the origin and development of St. Croix's popular form of indigenous music through the modalities of narrative and live musical presentations. 'Edutainment' will be the order of the evening, where education and entertainment are married, resulting in a stimulating production for the intellect and the auditory senses, said a release.
Willard John, the producer (and vice principal at the Educational Complex School) originally did the production for the Rotary District conference, and it was a big hit. Now it has returned — with embellishments — due to popular demand.
Tickets are $25 each and are available at Cruzan Carib, Eagles Fashion, Teddy's Party Rental, O'Neill and Associates, J & T Enterprises and from all Rotarians.
