Governor Turnbull has proclaimed Wednesday, March 31, as Transfer Day in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He calls upon all people of the territory to join in this observance and to participate in the activities scheduled for this day.
The year 1999 marks the eighty-second anniversary of the transfer of the Virgin Islands from Denmark to the United States of America. The governor stated that it is important that every effort be made to maintain and strengthen the bonds of friendship and goodwill between the territory and the people of Denmark.
