May 10, 2006 – Senator Celestino A. White, Sr. has called on Governor Charles Turnbull to act expeditiously in approving his recent initiatives moved in the Legislative Session of April 19, 2006.
According to Senator White, Amendment #F314-separated the appropriation for the construction of three restroom facilities on Brewers Bay Beach and Lindberg Bay Beach, St. Thomas and Crammers Parks, St. Croix, Bill N0. 26-0060-will allow seniors citizens to make payments of debts owed the government of the Virgin Islands at any government department, agency or instrumentality where there are bonded cashiers, Amendment #26-957-Appropriated $125,000.00 for the St. John 4th of July festival and Amendment #326-934T-will prohibit the Commissioner of Licensing & Consumers Affairs (DCLA) from requiring taxi operators to inspect their vehicle with the DCLA two (2) times annually. Also included in Amendment #326-934T was language to impose a freeze on the issuance of Taxi Licenses and Badges except for Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, I have called on his Excellency the Governor to act favorably on these very important initiatives designed to assist our senior's citizens, the taxi industry and the St. John Festivities, concluded Senator White.
