Softball Inc., Diageo Hummers and Set it off all wrapped up their 2010 portion of the Bob Owen Slow pitch Softball League season with victories at the D.C. Canegata ball park on Thursday. The league will resume play in January.
Softball Inc. 20, Cartel 10
Softball Inc. continued their stellar play atop the standings of the Bob Owen Slow Pitch Softball League with a 20-10 shellacking of the Cartel on Thursday. It was Softball Inc. with 20 runs on 18 hits and three errors, while the Cartel finished with 10 runs on eight hits and two errors.
The winning pitcher was Cody St. Pierre and David McFarland got the loss for the Cartel. Top batters for the winners were Leonardo Reyes (3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs) and Juan Santana (3 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs). For the Cartel, Daren Lewis was 3 for 3 with a home run and six RBIs.
Hummers 17, Dirty Dozen 8
In game two, the Diageo Hummers pulled away late from a pesky Dirty Dozen squad for a 17-8 victory. The Hummers scored 17 runs on 13 hits and three errors and the Dirty Dozen finished with eight runs on eight hits and three errors. Roman Cruz pitched the victory for the Hummers and Steve Nisky got the loss. Top batters for the hummers were Kai Schjang (4 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs) and Wayne Ross (3 for 3 with a home run and one RBI). For the Dirty Dozen, Cory Moore was 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs and Jeff Elvins was 2 for 3 with a home run and one RBI.
Set It Off 12, Anchor Dive 6
Set It Off doubled up Anchor Dive, 12-6, in Thursday’s nightcap behind Angel Soto’s strong pitching effort. Soto allowed just six runs to a potent Anchor Dive offense to pick up the victory. Edwin Sankitts got the loss for Anchor Dive. It was Set It Off with 12 runs on 12 hits while Anchor Dive finished with six runs on nine hits and two errors. Top batters for the winners were Julio Carmona (3 for 4 with a home run and one RBI) and Jose Burgos (2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs). For Anchor Dive, Carmelo Torres continued his hot hitting by going 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Danny Rodriguez was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
