In the spirit of gratitude and giving, the Virgin Islands Justice Department, under the leadership of Attorney General Gordon C. Rhea, is pleased to announce that DOJ employees demonstrated generosity by contributing food items for a “Thanksgiving Turkey & Fixings Food Drive.”
This initiative, in collaboration with the Family Resource Center (FRC) on St. Thomas/St. John and the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix (WCSC) provided boxes of food to families in need this holiday season, according to a press release.

Thanks to the contributions from every division of the DOJ, the effort supplied complete Thanksgiving meals to 10 families – five on St. Thomas/St. John and five on St. Croix. Each family received a box with uncooked items essential for preparing a full Thanksgiving meal, including a meal specifically tailored for a vegetarian household, the press release stated.

On Tuesday, Rhea presented the food boxes to WCSC at the DOJ office on St. Croix. The day prior, on Monday, Deputy AG Ian S.A. Clement delivered the boxes to representatives of the FRC at the DOJ office on St. Thomas. Additionally, the DOJ Special Investigations Division packaged and presented an extra box to Bethlehem House for the Homeless on St. Thomas, the release stated.

“This season of thanks reminds us of the importance of community and compassion,” noted Rhea. “I am proud of our dedicated staff for their generosity and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others during this holiday season.”

“It’s the season of giving, and we at the DOJ want to provide resources and food to community members facing challenges this time of year,” said Clement. “We hope to help them celebrate Thanksgiving. As we enjoy time with our families, we want to ensure they can celebrate with theirs as well.”

All organizations involved expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the generous contributions. Anya Stuart, executive director of FRC, shared, “I want to extend my deepest thanks to the DOJ team for choosing Family Resource Center Inc. to receive Thanksgiving food donations for those in need in our community. Your support means so much to us! It will help us meet urgent needs and enhance our mission to uplift our amazing community. Thank you for being a part of our journey.”

Clema Lewis, executive director of WCSC, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “This collaboration truly embodies the spirit of Thanksgiving, and we thank you.”
