COLE TO PUBLIC WORKS: ADDRESS PARKING ISSUES

In a letter to acting Public Works Commissioner Harry Thompson Jr., Sen. Donald "Ducks" Cole urged him to intervene to solve a "distressing" problem at the Fort Christian parking lot involving cars that park so they are blocking other vehicles when the lot is full.
Cole said this problem, along with several others, was confirmed by John Dessuit, supervisor of the parking lot.
Dessuit told him that when the lot is full, a sign is placed at the entrance, but that some motorists are not deterred. They enter anyway and double park or park so they are blocking the exit for vehicles that are parked appropriately.
Dessuit told Cole that he has no choice but to seek the help of the Police Department to have the errant vehicles either ticketed or towed away.
Cole suggested that Thompson implement a workable method of informing the motoring public when the lot is full to avoid such troublesome actions.
