CHRISTENSEN RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI HONOR

Donna M. Christian-Christensen, V.I. delegate to Congress, was awarded the 1999 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award by the George Washington University Board of Trustees during commencement activities on Saturday in Washington, DC.
The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is presented each year to five graduates of the George Washington University to recognize outstanding accomplishments which reflect honor and distinction upon the recipients and upon the university.
Christensen, a graduate of the university's school of medicine, expressed her gratitude to the university and the Virgin Islands community for the support given during her tenure at the school.
"I accept this award, not only for myself, but on behalf of my family….and my Virgin Islands extended family, whose nurturing and support have afforded me this opportunity to be of service," Christensen said.
The Delegate noted the presence of at least one Virgin Islands student at the commencement exercises, offering congratulations to Emily Spell, a 1995 graduate of Antilles School on St. Thomas, who received an undergraduate degree from George Washington University.
