EXTRA INNINGS IN CANEGATA SOFTBALL

All the favored teams ended up winning in the Bob Owens Slowpitch Summer League Wednesday night.
But the game for the Stealer wasn't so easy, as it went into extra innings. In the first game, Anchor Dive trailed the Stealers 14-9 in the bottom of the seventh.After scoring three runs, Mike Robbins (2-4, HR, 5 RBI) doubled, driving in two runs to tie the game at 14 apiece and sending the game into an extra inning.
In the top of the eighth inning, Wayne Biggs' sacrifice fly and Dave Davis' RBI single gave the Stealers the lead. They went on to hold off Anchor Dive to win 16-14.
Samuel Ramos (5-0) was the winning pitcher. Steve Nisky (2-3) suffered the loss. Valentine Bridgewater (3-5, 3 HR, 4 RBI) upped his home run total to seven with three home runs in his first three at bats and Ronald Schjang Jr. (3-5, HR) had his fifth league home run for the Stealers.
Anchor Dive also got solo home runs from Danny Rodriguez (3-5, HR) and Junior Antoine (1-2, HR).
Meanwhile, Guidance and Champagnes were tied 2-2 after two innings in the second game of the night. In the bottom of the third, Champagnes broke loose, scoring 13 runs on 11 hits, including a three-run home run by Julian Tima (3-4, 2 HR, 5 RBI). Champagnes went on to remain undefeated with the 22-2 win. Allan Woods (5-0) got the win and Dee King (2-3) was tagged with the loss.
Jose "Cheo" Guerra (4-4, 2 RBI) and Jeff Elvins (3-4, 2 RBI) combined for 7 of Champagnes 20 hits. Gregory Lewis (3-3, RBI) led Guidance.
In the final game of the night, 40 Caliber led Most High 4-2 after one inning. No runs were scored for the next four innings. 40 Caliber scored 5 in its final two innings and went on to win its third straight 9-3. The win went to Tony Perez (5-2). Gregory Francis (1-3) got the loss.
40 Caliber got home runs from Julio Carmona (2-4, HR, 2 RBI) and Dave Schjang (2-4, HR). All of Most High's runs were scored by Eddie Ogarro (2-3, HR, 3 RBI).
Coming up Monday at D. C. Canegata Ballpark, at 6:15 pm Xtreme Danger Too (0-6) goes against Most High (1-6). At 7:30 pm Anchor Dive (2-3) hosts Guidance (2-3). At 8:45 pm 40 Caliber takes on the undefeated Champagnes (5-0).
