HOTELIERS HIRE ASSISTANT

Phyllis Blackman Smith has moved from the position of liaison between the government and Martin Public Relations, to the post of assistant executive director for the St. Thomas-St. John Hotel Association.
She will be responsible for membership relations and community programs.
"We are committed to enhancing and expanding the benefits offered to our membership in 20001 and we are excited that Phyllis will oversee the effort," said association president Richard Doumeng.
Smith has 15 years with the industry, including stints in reservations and/or marketing with Sapphire Beach Resort, the Ritz Carlton-St. Thomas and Point Pleasant.
"Having someone with Phyllis' background in our office is definitely positive for the association," said executive director Beverly Nicholson. "The learning curve will be almost non-existent. In fact, she's hit the ground running."
