May 23, 2001 – Members of the American Federation of Teachers who did not pay their biweekly insurance premiums while they were on strike last October will see the payments deducted from their May 31 paychecks.
Karen M. Andrews, chief negotiator for the administration's Office of Collective Bargaining, said it was decided to make the deduction at this time because May is "one of the rare months where there are three pay periods," according to a Government House release.
