Jan. 23, 2002 – The Virgin Islands Daily News has announced the cost of the paper will increase from 60 cents to 75 cents effective Monday.
In an article Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer J. Lowe Davis said the high cost of newsprint and other materials, coupled with "our commitment to our employees to pay them fair wages and raises," led to the decision to raise the price.
She said the newspaper hadn't increased its price since 1994 when it went from 50 cents to 60 cents.
Davis said stateside papers raise their prices every two or three years.
