COSMIC NEWS: SIGNS OF THE TIMES

This bi-monthly report, a blend of astrology, astronomy and myth, appears on New Moons and Full Moons as a cosmic weather report for these times we are living.
FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS is exact at 6:50 p.m. (AST) on Monday, Jan. 28. This union of Sun and Moon is joined by an almost full house of planets in Aquarius — Venus, Mercury, Uranus and Neptune.
AQUARIUS
In the heart of space, the Water Bearer opens wider the portals of the New Age. She dips her jug in the Milky Way and pours forth upon Earth the "cold, clear light of reason," the detached essence of unconditional love. Myriad stars vibrate electrically as she tunes the cosmic synthesizer and sings a melody which roughly translates as, "Up above the world so high, like diamond in the sky."
"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" is a fine mantra for baby Aquarians. They fly into life, touching lightly and living as much in the rarefied ethers as they do on Earth. Like a rainbow shimmering in the mist of a waterfall, Aquarius radiates a multi-dimensional knowledge that is all- inclusive and seeks to communicate the transpersonally good, the true and the beautiful. With a swift mind's eye that sees through to the essential ideal, Aquarians carry universal wisdom as the waters of life to share with the family of humanity. Remember Prometheus, who stole the fire of the gods to bring down to humankind? This rebellious Titan defiantly crashed down through the clouds, with the wrathful lightning bolts of Zeus thundering after him.
Aquarians are challenged to understand and then break free from personal and cultural narrowness. If caught in the sticky web of ego, their clear detachment can become strung-out, ultracool, and freeze feelings, like the paralyzing eye of Medusa. They need the personal warmth coming from the heart to thaw that icy stare.
Pegasus, the winged horse, is pictured in the Great Square of stars found in the Aquarius sector. Pegasus flew out of the neck of Medusa after her snaky head was cut off. Born from her blood and the waters of Neptune, Pegasus carries us to the heights of vision and bears the electrical thunderbolts, unexpected flashes of cosmic insight from the Awakener. Out of our dreams and into the skies on wings of freedom, we glide on the Aquarian's winds like water- bearing clouds, enjoying a clear, detached view of our lifescapes and breathing in the fresh Aquarian air.
NEPTUNE
The dreamtime God of the Universal Seas is riding on the high tide of this Full Moon. Exactly joined with the Sun, Neptune's energy is also reflected in the light of the Moon. Neptune's atmospheric storms, winds and ecstasies are the wildest in the solar system. Named for the God of the Ocean, Neptune has symbolism that ranges like low and high tides, from illusion, delusion, confusion, deception, addiction and escapism, to aesthetic, mystical, spiritual, compassion, devotion and vibrational sensitivity. With an orbit of 165 years, Neptune's passage through the zodiac lasts beyond a single lifetime and creates 14-year generations of people who share a particular theme to redeem for the collective consciousness.
Neptune is in Aquarius through 2012, contributing to internet globalization and spiritual awakening. Neptune rules such things as music and fine art, fashion trends, oil, and advertising. Neptune suggests we open our higher mind and use our subtle senses to distinguish glamour and fanstasy from dreams based on true ideals. South American shamans have a saying, "The world is as we dream it."* It is time to change some of our collective dreams, to feel our connection with the cosmos and share this planet generously with "all our relations." Take a break from television and check out other versions of reality, commune with nature and seek inner peace and guidance from your angels.
SABIAN SYMBOLS are images given for each degree of the zodiac, 360 in all. These images suggest further meanings, often uncannily relevant in our experience. The Sabian symbol for this Full Moon at 9 degrees Aquarius is:
IN MEDITATION, A FLAG IS SEEN, WHICH CHANGES INTO AN EAGLE
This rebirth image is very relevant to our American dream, which is changing now with the spiritual insight that the eagle gives. It represents a process of spiritual realization that expands from outer to inner seeking. Feel the cosmic tides of this Moon move us along on the sparkling waves of Aquarian inspiration and communion.
