WHAT'S THE 'ALTERNATIVE' ? ALL THAT JAZZ!

Feb. 28, 2002 – If you're sorry you missed the jazz at last week's "Friday Night Alternative" at American Yacht Harbor, or if you're glad you went and liked what you heard, head on out to Red Hook this Friday for more of the same from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Marlin Deck outside the Color of Joy art gallery and boutique is where it all happens — live music, lively company, and for this Friday a lovely full-ish moon, too, rising over the AHY docks and Vessup Bay beyond. Plus complimentary wine, cheese and crackers and the ongoing opportunity to help support the weekly events by purchasing FNA T-shirts and/or tickets for the monthly raffle of artwork.
February's winner, Judy Grybowski, has taken her art away, but there'll be a new framed print on display Friday night to kick off the March raffle.
Last weekend, "the music was great," presenter Corinne Van Rensselaer says. Keeping the momentum going, FNA is definitely "back in the jazz groove," she adds, and house keyboardist/vocalist "Sunshine" Sally Smith and drummer regular "Mr. B." will be joined by "a bevy of talent" again this week.
A highlight of last week's get-together, which was recorded by a TV2 crew for the channel's "Hot Ticket" feature, was that "We got TV2's Lindsey singing for the finale!" The television segment is scheduled to air March 8 at 7:30 p.m., March 9 at 1:30 p.m. and March 10, also at 1:30 p.m.
