FY 2000 GOVERNMENT AUDIT COMPLETED

March 15, 2002 – Government House has announced the completion of the V.I. government financial statements for the 2000 Fiscal Year.
The government's independent auditing firm, KPMG, issued its report on Feb. 25. This is the fourth audit completed by the Turnbull administration. The audits are mandated in a Memorandum of Understanding with the federal government.
Finance Commissioner Bernice Turnbull, currently acting governor in the absences of Gov. Charles Turnbull and Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James II, said Wednesday that preparations for the audit of Fiscal Year 2001 are "well under way."
In a prepared statement, the governor said meeting the audit commitment "improves our credibility with the federal government, bondholders, and potential investors."
