PUBLIC WORKS CONTINUES GOLDEN ROCK REPAIRS

Sept. 26, 2002 – Public Works Commissioner Wayne Callwood said the department has completed repairs to the sewer line in the Golden Rock area, and more repairs are on the way.
"Approximately 450 feet of concrete piping was replaced with 12-inch PVC piping from the area of LBJ to Harbor View Apartments," Callwood said. Blocked connectors for two residential pipe lines were also replaced, he said.
Ongoing repairs include running more of the PVC piping in the area to improve the flow into the manhole, Callwood said. "It is anticipated that this work will be completed within three weeks," he said, adding that the department would continue utilizing "chlorine and deodorizer to control the odor and disinfect the area until the problem is resolved."
Callwood asked that Golden Rock residents and motorists use caution in the area and to adhere to posted traffic barriers.
