Gov. Charles Turnbull issued a statement of mourning for Mrs. Henry, "who was born and grew up in the town of Frederiksted, was committed to her children and family." She was "determined to see her children properly educated and …," Turnbull continued, "she was also devoted to her Christian faith."
James A. O'Bryan Jr., in his capacity as Democratic state chairman, also issued a statement extending condolences to her son, Omar B. U. Henry, and the family. "There are no words that can truly assuage the grief and sense of loss that a son feels when he [loses] a mother, especially one in which there has been a lifelong closeness," O'Bryan said.
