SENATOR MALONE VISITS ST. JOHN TO RECEIVE CONSTITUENT COMPLAINTS
On Thursday, June 19, 2003, Senator Shawn-Michael Malone will be on St. John to field constituent concerns.
"Constituents on St. John have the added burden of two-fared transportation costs when trying to meet with their representatives to discuss issues concerning the island. Too often, this inhibits their accessibility to us to voice their concerns. Yes, communication by telephone and e-mail is available, but these methods fall short of the intimacy found in face-to-face interaction," Senator Malone explained.
"My office has received several calls from constituents on St. John and I believe the number of calls warrants making myself available on the island to listen, discuss and ascertain the concerns of my St. Johnian constituency. It is only a matter of bringing equity to my constituents, while trying to aid in solving issues that possibly would go unheard," Senator Malone added.
Constituents who wish to meet with the Senator can schedule an appointment by calling his office at 639-3529 in advance, or stop by the Legislative Building on St. John between 10am and 4pm when Senator Malone will be available to hear their concerns.
Senator Malone plans to make regular these types of visits to the island and hopes citizens will use this time to meet with him.
