BOOKS ARE FREE ON INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND

June 30, 2003 — The Friends of the St. Thomas Public Library are offering used adult books to all comers Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fortress Storage. (Follow the signs around back.) Individuals, group leaders and school librarians are all welcome.
"Redistribution of the literary assets of the island," said a release, has netted more than 7,000 books in the past year. Shelves of free books are available throughout the community at Nisky Mail Services, Mahogany Run Condo office, Bonnie's, Bottoms Up, and Frenchtown Deli.
Books have been donated to the Housing Community Centers, The Boys and Girls Club, Junior Firefighters, New Horizons Library, senior centers and homes, Bordeaux Farmers, The Rehabilitation Center, several church groups and the book cart at Schneider Hospital.
Community members are reminded to donate books no longer needed into the deposit boxes in all island post offices.
