TRAWICK TO HEAD BUREAU OF CORRECTIONS

July 3, 2003 – Governor Charles W. Turnbull announced his appointment of John L. Trawick as the new director of the Bureau of Corrections, to be effective July 14.
Trawick currently works as the superintendent of the Youth Rehabilitation Center on St. Croix. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Florida A&M University and a master's degree in education from the University of Southern California.
Trawick held several positions in the Army, from deputy chief of police to security director, before relocating to the Virgin Islands in 1987. Before joining the Department of Human Services, he was deputy director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the V.I.
He is a member of the American Correctional Association, the American Jail Association and the Navy League.
Turnbull thanked Trawick for his willingness to serve in this capacity. The governor wished him success in the challenging role.
