Non-Teaching Staff Council Seeks Input on Draft By-laws

An early goal is to achieve legislative approval for staff and alumni representation on the UVI Board of Trustees. The Staff Council is also working toward the creation of a needs-assessment procedure. This would allow the council to assess issues and address policies that need to be initiated, revised or updated. Participants decided to seek additional staff input into the council's draft by-laws before putting them to a vote.
A copy of the draft by-laws is now available on the UVI web site. Links can be found in the "Latest Links" menu and in the "UVI Announcements" section on the UVI home page, or at the direct link. Staff members with suggestions are asked to forward them to Verna Rivers by e-mail, or drop them in suggestion boxes available on both campuses.
The deadline for suggestions is Jan. 31. The council will formally adopt the by-laws at its next meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10. For more information call 693-1111.
