Divi Carina Bay Resort Has a New General Manager

Aug. 24, 2004 – The new general manager of Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort and Casino is Richard Patrick Henry, a hotelier with more than 25 years of experience who most recently was general manager of two resorts in Wisconsin.
Ray Hobbs, Divi Resorts president and chief operating officer, said Henry "brings with him extensive experience in the hotel industry and expertise in both resort and revenue growth and conference/meeting planning." Those qualities, Hobbs said, are expected to "not only enhance Divi Carina Bay's overall vacation product but also reinforce our commitment to provide guests with the best vacation experience possible."
As general manager, Henry is responsible for overall operation of the St. Croix resort and casino, maintaining quality standards and leading the management team.
For the last six years, Henry was with Decade Properties/Montclair Resorts and Hotels as general manager at the 192-room Pioneer Resort and Marina in 1998-2004 and the 394-room Paper Valley Hotel and Conference Center in 1998-2001 in Wisconsin. Before that, he was vice president for operations of Jumer Hotels and Casino, directing the operations of five European-style hotels, and director of operations for MHM./Richfield Hospitality Services, overseeing the operations of 13 properties.
Henry is a graduate of the Florida International University School of Hotel, Food and Travel and holds an associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America.
The Divi release announcing Henry's appointment described its location, St. Croix, as "one of the Caribbean's best-kept secrets." Further, it said, "Barefoot elegance epitomizes this deluxe beachfront resort," with its thousand feet of "uncrowded and unspoiled beach." The property is the only resort on St. Croix to offer guests high-speed wireless Internet access, it added.
The Carina Bay property is one of nine resorts that Divi Resorts operates in the Caribbean. The others are in three in Aruba, two in Barbados and one each in Bonaire, Cayman Brac and Sint Maarten.
